Georgia bank is 104th U.S. failure of the year

SEATTLE (MarketWatch) -- Acworth, Ga.-based NorthWest Bank and Trust was closed by regulators Friday, marking the 104th U.S. bank failure of 2010. NorthWest Bank and Trust had $167.7 million in assets and $159.4 million in deposits as of March 31, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said in a statement. The Georgia bank's failure will cost the deposit-insurance fund $39.8 million, the FDIC said.
